Victor Capiz

Victor Capiz is an award-winning cinematographer and photographer originally from Tijuana, Mexico but now makes Los Angeles his home. He works with digital formats as well as film, including S16mm and 35mm.

He has shot promos, short films, behind the scenes, red carpets, branded content, commercials, VOD, and sizzles.  His clients include Pepsi, HBO Multicultural, Manzanita Sol, Jose Cuervo, Heineken, Gibson, Lifetime, and HBO among others.

Victor’s narrative work has screened at New York Film Festival, Urbanworld, HollyShorts, San Diego Latino Film Festival, Fantasia and many more. The film The Last Light screened at over 10 festivals in 4 countries. The 1-minute short film, You Deserve It, that Victor photographed, went on to win the Grand Prize at the Moët Moment Film Festival.

Victor received a Best Cinematography award for Great America at the 2021 Female Voices Rock Film Festival and a Best Cinematographer award at the New York Cinematography Awards. The film premiered in 2020 at Urbanworld, an Oscar-qualifying film festival. It has also screened at Reel Sisters of the Diaspora, Official Latino Film Festival, and Manchester Film Festival among others.

Victor’s latest Narrative work is for The Blue Drum, which was part of NALIP’s Women of Color Incubator sponsored by Netflix. His wife and partner, Angelita Mendoza, directed the film. The film has been selected at Screamfest, Another Hole in the Head, Manchester Film Festival, Female Voices Rock, and San Diego Latino Film Festival among others.
